SANTA ROSA –
When you think about modeling and acting, thoughts of “young, talented”
people pursuing Hollywood or Milan usually come to mind. But Suzanne
Glover is breaking new ground for “those over 40,” (or as Suzanne says,
“those who are 29-again”) by integrating modeling and acting trade
secrets into helping women during their “middle years” overcome mid-life
changes, regain youthfulness, personal empowerment and find renewed hope
and inspiration for their second half of life.
Sally DelRosario (“29-again”) is one
such woman who, during her “1st life,” had raised a family
and managed a long-time career before abruptly walking out of her job
and slipping into such severe depression that she reclused to bed for
the better part of two years. During that time, she survived only on
frozen dinners brought into the house by others, suffered serious
medical maladies and battled constant thoughts of suicide. Something
deep within, however, whispered hope, and she called Suzanne to help her
“get good enough to do background work” in films. But an extraordinary
thing happened… a new life blossomed for her that had more to do with
“personal empowerment” than just learning acting. “As a direct result
of working with Suzanne, I began to have an active interest in my
personal survival,” says Sally. During her transformation, she overcame
hurdles one by one, learning how to make changes inside which led to
changes outside. Within a couple of months, Sally was motivated to
enroll at the SRJC where she was suddenly faced with overcoming a deeply
held belief that she could not, and would not, be able to write an essay
for English class. So, she asked Suzanne for help. Suzanne suggested
using a method she had developed for overcoming personal and creative
blocks and asked Sally to practice the method’s exercises. Within a
week, Sally was writing. “Words just came to me… I had to pull my car
over to write them down they were coming so fast,” Sally reported to
Glover the following week. Sally then turned that essay into her
English teacher, who loved it and entered it into a national writing
scholarship contest, which, yes, actually, Sally won!
“I feel like my life has
possibilities now,” says Sally. And possibilities continued as Sally’s
fast emerging confidence prompted her to step out and enter the Millie
Lewis Actors, Models & Talent Competition in Florida where she performed
in front of dozen of agents and again received attention, which included
receiving the “Role Model Award” along with other awards.
“I had a sense that, even though
Sally had never performed before, comedy was a good fit,” says Suzanne.
“My instincts were confirmed when she won 2nd place in the
stand up comedy and finalist in the situation comedy categories at the
1000+ attended convention.”
Today, Sally’s “second life” picks up
speed as her health and creative vision grow faster and stronger, even
venturing to London next year to continue her study in acting.
“In my ‘1st life,’ I never
dreamed of getting up in front of people. When I started this endeavor,
I could hardly stay away from bed and just wanted to do background
work. Now, within eight months, I’ve won a scholarship and acting
awards, performed in front of hundreds of people, including producers,
agents and casting directors, and am excited and open about what the
future holds,” reports Sally.
“It feels great helping people at any
age follow their dreams,” says Suzanne, “but Sally personifies my belief
that those ‘over 40’ can use these secrets to unlock their creative
potential for a wide variety of interests as they step into their
‘second’ half of life following parenting, careers and other family
obligations.”
“I’ve reinvented myself,” Sally
reveals, “going from someone who was so closed up, so awkward, unsure
and unworthy, to feeling like I can make eye contact with people and
feel proud about what I do. I’m feeding my ‘once empty, longing soul’
with the happiness that I didn’t think was possible for me and am having
the time of my life. I’m actually living my dream!”
Sally’s story has inspired Suzanne to
create a “2nd life” program for those who have given to
others all of their lives and who are asking, “What’s next?” For those
who want to create possibilities, stand up straighter, have the
confidence to “write that novel,” take an art class or even paint the
living room orange!
“I love it when a client says, ‘I’m
ready to do something just for me’” says Suzanne, “because I know that
she’s ready to create possibilities and have the time of her life!”

Laughter got somewhat out of hand at the social club when an audience
volunteer helped with sound effects as the Team performed the radio
drama "Hare Dryer." The Team was able to hold the show together
despite the outlandish laughter and was invited back for another
performance. Stay tuned for news of the sequel event.
